| Our regular ride to the
West London Greenfest just gets bigger every year – this year
no doubt our numbers were swelled by some new faces due to the promise
a further Doctor Bike before the ride.
28 of us set off on our usual circuit to Richmond – and as
common with all rides soon a new short cut was suggested to miss
out Brentford High Street. Alas we were soon separated following
a puncture and various mechanical issues so the group split with
the bulk of us waiting at Syon house whilst Brian, Sav and David
replaced inners and chains. Thankfully WiZZBike in Brentford had
just opened for spares.
We set off after regrouping and made it through Richmond town centre
and up the hill to the café in the park for a welcome drink.
We then went through the park spotting the deer and road cyclists
and headed out of the north east gate to head into Barnes and along
the Thames before crossing the river and turning north to the festival.
As usual the festival was well organised – with a large number
of stalls, a music stage and food stalls. A surprisingly large number
of people stayed the course and we returned en-masse to Ealing,
stopping briefly at Chiswick House for a swift history lesson.
A very pleasant ride in lovely weather and great company.
Thanks to Brian for back stopping and for David & Brian for
mid-trip fettling.
