| Fifteen of us took the
train to Maidenhead after battling the stairs at Ealing Broadway.
After visiting the historic Guards Clubhouse on the banks of the
Thames, we followed the Jubilee River cycle-way for 8 miles to Eton.
(The Jubilee River is an impressive 40m wide man-made river completed
in 2002 at a cost of £110m. It is part of the flood prevention
scheme for Maidenhead and environs.)
The afternoon ride to Windsor Great Park was not possible because
it was closed due to foot-and-mouth and blue-tongue disease prevention.
So, after a congenial pub lunch in Eton we returned to Maidenhead
via Eton rowing lake ( the largest in Europe) and the river Thames.
From there we took the train back to Southall and Ealing.
Thanks to Colin for leading.
