| Quite a dramatic change
in the weather in just seven days. 14 of us set off a glorious sunny
Sunday for our annual visit to the Camden Greenfest. We left a little
later than normal given how close the festival is, and we took the
long way there via the Thames and usual loop over a few bridges,
the idea to save the canal for the journey home. A rather long winded
puncture delayed us in Barnes, but it was pleasant waiting on the
river path watching the runners and rowers exert themselves.
We came through Knightsbridge and then into Hyde Park before snaking
through the back roads across the west end and into Regents Park.
It took a little while to find it despite my assertions that we’d
have no trouble finding it. After a fashion we found the rows of
bike stands next to the LCC stall and it was nice to chat to the
friendly faces of central LCC.
We agreed a meeting time and split up to wander the ever expanding
festival, every year another sound stage is added and more and more
stalls appear – a good mix of food, commercial stands and
information.
At the allotted time we met – allowing just enough time for
a quick try out of the recumbents. I had some trouble find the canal,
but it was pleasant cycling around the Zoo and finding some interesting
routes for other rides. Thanks to Robin for putting us straight
and finding the canal – which was nice and empty and we made
excellent time home, and as usual riders peeled off when they required.
31 miles. Thanks to David for back-stop, and Robin for canal-hunting
skills.
