Bedfont Lakes Ride
.

A hot summery trip to Bedfont County Park

The ride begins

Eleven turned up at the town hall for this ride all suitably armed with water bottles, hats and sun cream as it turned out to be a real scorcher of a day. Before we had set off one person’s mudguard half fell off however a temporary mend was quickly achieved with a sticking plaster ! Before we left everyone was issued with a nice leaflet on our destination 'Bedfont
Lakes Country Park' so everyone was fully motivated.

A couple of us had walki-talk-is which were really useful and in allowing everyone to be told if someone needed to stop for something e.g. admire the view, put chain back on, replace plaster with string on mudguard etc. It was interesting to listen in on the police who seems to share our frequency !

The route there was really nice and relaxing as the route was nearly all on quiet roads with little
traffic or cycle paths. Stretches along canal side were mostly flat and smooth which is always nice but also very pretty and we saw a coot on nest, a heron, and some huge fish.

We broke the journey there to replenish our water bottles at MacDonalds and some cycled away holding big cups of iced water. On arrival at Bedfont Lakes we all sat at wooden tables and had lunch, a few of us had a mini trip to a local pub and had a rather slowly served but much needed meal and drink. After lunch we cycled round the lakes and admired the lakes and
rolling hills this only took 10 minutes and then it was back on the way home.

Equally pleasant journey back, Kelvin adjusted the route back to allow one or two people to peel off easily to their homes, and the group had one more pit stop at the Fox inn. Everyone safely back at 4pm at Ealing town hall goodbyes exchanged till the next time...

Thanks to Kelvin and Karla for leading.
