About a dozen people turned
up promptly as hoped to ride to the Camden Greefest, one of the
largest in London during Sustainability Week. We went last year
and enjoyed it so much we did it again. Summer had well and truly
arrived and we were glad to have taken sun cream.
A pleasant cycle along the much improved tow path of the Grand
Union, although we had one major detour due to continuing work.
I managed to give a cyclist traveling home to West Drayton a cycle
map of the area as there were no detour arrows around one large
closed section. Disappointing to see two anti-motor cycle barriers
remain and two new ones towards West Bourne Park.
We passed an improntu hippy gathering at Old Oak Common, no one
was quite sure if it was just begining or just ending. They seemed
happy enough though.
A much welcomed coffee stop at a canal boat cafe was well received
before the final leg to Regents Park and the fair itself. The fair
seemed bigger than last year, with more sound stages and more stalls.
The usual suspects were there - Good Going, Camden Cycle Campaign
etc but also a massive Doctor Bike that was doing great business.
Another excellent social ride - 25 miles and home in time for tea.
